OPSA-150, Organic Pollutant Monitor (UV Meter), HORIBA

OPSA-150 Horiba

The OPSA-150 is HORIBA's organic pollutant monitor based on the company's proven proprietary rotary cell length modulation method — a dual optical path, dual wavelength UV/VIS analyser that simultaneously measures UV absorbance (253.7 nm), VIS absorbance (546.1 nm), COD conversion concentration, and turbidity conversion concentration. The unique rotating cell mechanism compensates for contamination effects through continuous zero-point checks, while a continuous wiper ensures uninterrupted optical measurement without the reading errors associated with intermittent cleaning. Reagent-free; response time T90 within 1 minute; suitable from low-concentration water intake monitoring to high-concentration industrial wastewater.

Add to bag

The OPSA-150 is HORIBA's organic pollutant monitor, applying the company's proven proprietary rotary cell length modulation method developed over many years of industrial water quality measurement experience. The instrument uses a dual optical path, dual wavelength design — measuring ultraviolet absorbance at 253.7 nm and visible absorbance at 546.1 nm simultaneously — and derives COD conversion concentration and turbidity conversion concentration from these measurements. The unique rotating cell mechanism performs continuous zero-point checks by rotating the measurement cell to compensate for contamination effects from the sample water, eliminating zero-point drift without interrupting measurement. A continuous wiper simultaneously cleans the optical cell surfaces at all times, ensuring that there are no reading errors caused by cell contamination and no discrepancy between values before and after cleaning — a common limitation of intermittent cleaning systems. The wide measurement range (full scale 0.1–5.0 Abs with 10 mm cell) covers both low-concentration water intake monitoring and high-concentration industrial wastewater discharge in a single unit. No reagents are required; one-touch ampoule calibration with zero and span solutions is available.

Key Features OPSA-150

  • Proprietary rotary cell length modulation method — continuous zero-point compensation for contamination effects; eliminates zero-point drift without interrupting measurement.
  • Dual optical path, dual wavelength (UV 253.7 nm + VIS 546.1 nm) — simultaneous UV absorbance, VIS absorbance, COD conversion concentration, and turbidity conversion concentration.
  • Continuous automatic wiper cleaning — no reading errors from cell contamination; no pre/post-cleaning discrepancy.
  • Wide measurement range: full scale 0.1–5.0 Abs (0.1 Abs step settable); minimum scale 0.0001 Abs; covers low-concentration intake water to high-concentration industrial wastewater.
  • Repeatability and linearity ±2.0% FS (0.1–2.5 Abs); ±5.0% FS (2.6–5.0 Abs); stability ±2.0%/24 h FS.
  • Response time T90 within 1 minute at ~5 L/min flow rate.
  • Reagent-free continuous measurement; one-touch ampoule calibration with zero and span solutions.
  • 3 × 4–20 mA DC isolated outputs (selectable: UV abs, VIS abs, UV-VIS abs, COD conversion, TURB conversion); max. 600 Ω.
  • 6 contact outputs (alarm, maintenance, power off); 2 contact inputs (float switch, time adjustment); RS-232C (19200 bps).
  • Data memory ~1 year (1-hr interval) or ~10 days (1-min interval); CF card transfer.
  • IP54 weather protection; outdoor installation type; circulation-type analyser; low power (45–60 VA).

Applications

The OPSA-150 is suited to continuous monitoring of organic pollutants at industrial wastewater discharge points under Total Pollutant Load Control System (TPLCS) requirements, organic matter surveillance at water intake points for source water quality management, and monitoring of specific organic substances in process lines such as phenol concentration measurement.

Installation and Safety Notes

Designed for outdoor installation (IP54). Mount control unit and analyser unit on a flat, stable, vibration-free surface at 0–40 °C; altitude ≤2000 m; no direct sunlight, dust, corrosive gases. Power: 100–230 V AC ±10%, 50/60 Hz. Sample water: temperature 2–40 °C; flow rate 2–20 L/min. Protect from freezing in cold weather. Calibrate using HORIBA ampoule calibration solutions (zero and span).
