sLB Broth (Buffered) is an advanced modification of the classic LB medium, optimized for maximum biomass yield. It contains significantly higher concentrations of Tryptone and Yeast Extract, providing an abundance of peptides, amino acids, vitamins, and trace elements. Unlike standard sLB, this formulation is supplemented with a Phosphate Buffer. During rapid bacterial growth, E. coli can produce organic acids that drop the pH and inhibit further growth; the buffer neutralizes these acids, allowing the culture to maintain exponential growth longer and reach superior optical densities (OD).
