sLB Broth is an enriched modification of the classic Lysogeny Broth. It contains significantly higher concentrations of Tryptone and Yeast Extract, which supply an abundance of peptides, amino acids, vitamins, and trace elements. This high nutrient density allows bacterial cultures to sustain exponential growth for longer periods and reach much higher optical densities (OD) than traditional media. The Sodium chloride concentration is maintained at a level that ensures osmotic stability for the cells during rapid division. This medium is the liquid equivalent of sLB Agar and is a preferred choice for molecular biologists requiring maximum yields from small culture volumes.
