Used for fast and accurate free and total chlorine determination in water samples by Color Disc/DPD method.
Free and Total Chlorine Colour Disc Test Kit measures the concentration of free and total chlorine in the range of 0 - 3.4 mg/L Cl₂ in water. The kit uses Color Disc/DPD method. Model CN-66 can be used to conduct 50 free chlorine tests and 50 total chlorine tests. The smallest increment is 0.2 mg/L Cl₂.
Phenols Test Set includes:
- DPD Free Chlorine Reagent Powder Pillows (p/n 1407799)
- DPD Total Chlorine Reagent Powder Pillows (p/n 1407699)
- DPD Chlorine Color Disc, 0–3.4 mg/L (p/n 990200)
- Color Comparator Box (p/n 173200)
- 18 mm Plastic Viewing Tubes, with caps (p/n 4660004)
- Instruction sheet
Procedure for Cl₂ evaluation
Before starting analysis:
- Place the color disc on the center pin in the color comparator box (numbers to the front).
- Use sunlight or lamp as the source of light to match the color with the color comparator box.
- Use the value in the middle of the two segments if colors between two segments are matching.
- For free chlorine, read the result immediately after adding the reagent to prevent the influence of monochloramine.
Testing procedure
Add the collected sample into two tubes to the 5 mL line. After that install the first tube into the left opening of the color comparator box. Pour the content of DPD Free or Total Chlorine Powder Pillow to the second tube and swirl to mix. The pink color appears as the result of the reaction. Read testing results within 1 minute for free chlorine analysis. Wait 3 minutes and read testing results within 6 minutes for the determination of total chlorine. Then set the second tube into the color comparator box. Keep the color comparator box in front of the source of light, turn the color disc to identify the color match and analyze testing results.
