HP-480PL, Panel-Mount Type Pulse Proportional Control pH Meter HP-480PL, HORIBA

HP-480PL Horiba

The HP-480PL is a compact panel-mount industrial pH meter from HORIBA's 48/96 Series, distinguished by its integrated pulse proportional control function for direct dosing pump operation. In addition to standard ON/OFF pH control and alarm outputs, the HP-480PL outputs a variable-frequency pulse signal (1–360 SPM) that drives a pulse-type chemical dosing pump in proportion to the pH deviation, enabling precise and efficient reagent dosing without a separate pump controller. It shares the same 48 × 96 mm DIN format, isolated 4–20 mA output, two-point auto calibration, and IP65 panel face as the HP-480.

Add to bag

The HP-480PL is a panel-mount industrial pH meter from HORIBA's 48/96 Series, designed for pH monitoring and closed-loop control with integrated pulse proportional dosing pump control. Unlike the standard HP-480, the HP-480PL features a built-in pulse proportional control function that outputs a variable-frequency pulse signal directly to a pulse-type chemical dosing pump. The pulse output frequency — freely settable from 1 to 360 strokes per minute — is proportional to the deviation from the pH setpoint within the configured proportional band, enabling precise and reagent-efficient neutralization without requiring a separate pump controller. The instrument fits the standard 48 × 96 mm DIN panel cutout, providing a complete pH measurement and dosing control solution in a compact, panel-integrated unit. The ultrasonic cleaner can be retrofitted directly; for other cleaner types, customer sequence control is required.

Key Features HP-480PL

  • Integrated pulse proportional control: direct pulse output to a dosing pump at 1–360 SPM; proportional band 0.01–4.00 pH; control output shift 0–50% — no separate pump controller needed.
  • ON/OFF control also available: upper/lower limit setting 0.00–14.00 pH; control width 0.00–4.00 pH (±0.00–±2.00 pH).
  • pH measurement range 0–14, resolution 0.01 pH; temperature display 0–100 °C, 1 °C resolution (selectable).
  • Isolated 4–20 mA DC transmission output; max. load resistance 900 Ω; free output range setting; repeatability and linearity ±0.05 pH / ±0.08 mA.
  • Two relay contact outputs (SPDT 1c, 240 V AC / 30 V DC, 0.3 A): selectable upper/lower limit alarm, ON/OFF control, or maintenance mode.
  • Two-point automatic calibration with automatic electrode validation (asymmetry potential, sensitivity, response speed); standard solutions pH 2/4/7/9/10; manual calibration also available.
  • Automatic temperature compensation 0–100 °C; supports NTC thermistors (350 Ω, 500 Ω, 6.8 kΩ, 10 kΩ at 25 °C) and Pt 1 kΩ; compensation can be disabled.
  • Self-diagnostics: calibration errors, electrode self-diagnosis, temperature sensor faults, converter errors.
  • Panel face IP65 (IEC60529 / JIS C0920); rear case IP20; ABS panel case; PBT terminals; Class II device per IEC61010-1, Pollution Level 2.
  • Compact 48 × 96 mm DIN format; case depth approx. 105 mm; weight approx. 400 g. FCC Part 15.

Applications

The HP-480PL is suited to pH monitoring and automated chemical dosing control in industrial wastewater neutralization, production process pH adjustment, water treatment facilities, and any application where a pulse-type dosing pump is used for reagent addition and integrated pH-to-pump control is preferred over a separate pump controller.

Installation and Safety Notes

Install the HP-480PL into a standard 48 × 96 mm panel cutout. Power supply: 100–240 V AC, 50/60 Hz, 10 VA max. The panel face is rated IP65; the rear case is IP20 and terminals IP00 — protect the rear of the panel from moisture and contamination. Note that the contact output rating is 0.3 A (vs 3 A on the HP-480) — verify compatibility with connected loads. The ultrasonic cleaner can be retrofitted without additional sequence control; for other cleaner types, customer-side sequence control is required. Operating temperature −5 to 45 °C; storage −25 to 65 °C; humidity 20–85% RH non-condensing.
