Used as an excellent option for fast and reliable pH measurement in natural water, industrial water, boiler feed water and swimming pools. Simply add an indicator to your sample and compare the color to the dots on the color disc to measure the pH.
pH Test Set is used for pH analysis in the range from 4.0 to 10.0 pH in various water samples. The set uses Color Disc/ Wide range indicator method. pH Test Kit can be used for 300 tests. The smallest increment is 0.5 pH. Model 17N provides quick and reliable pH readings.
pH Test Set includes:
- Wide Range pH Indicator Solution (p/n 2329332)
- Wide Range pH Color Disc (p/n 990100)
- Color Comparator Box (p/n 173200)
- 18mm Plastic Viewing Tubes, with caps (p/n 4660004)
Procedure for pH determination
Before starting analysis:
- It is required to set the color disc on the center pin in the color comparator box (numbers to the front).
- It is recommended to use sunlight or lamp as the source of light to find the color match with the color comparator box.
- It is necessary to pull apart the flat plastic sides, open the color disc and dry all parts with soft cloth if the color disc becomes wet internally.
- The chlorine content of more than 1 mg/l interferes with the test. To remove chlorine from the sample, add 1 drop of 0.1 N sodium thiosulfate solution to 25 mL of sample and mix. Use this dechlorinated sample in the test procedure. The sodium thiosulfate removes a maximum of 10 mg/L chlorine from the sample.
Testing procedure
Fill two tubes to the 5 mL line with sample. Place the first tube into the left opening of the color comparator box. Pipet 6 drops of wide range pH indicator solution to the second tube. Swirl to mix the content of the second tube. Insert the second tube into the color comparator box, rotate the color disc to determine the matching color and read the results in pH units.
