Kit 17H provides you with a simple and accurate visual test method for determining the pH level in water samples.

pH Test Set is used for pH analysis in water. The set is suitable for pH determination in the following range: 6.5 - 8.5 pH. Model 17H uses Color Disc/Phenol red method. pH Test Kit can be used to conduct 200 tests. The smallest increment is 0.1 pH. Receive fast and precise testing results with the low-cost color disc method.

pH Test Kit includes:

  • Phenol Red pH Indicator Solution (p/n 21132)
  • Phenol Red pH Color Disc, 6.6-8.4 pH units (p/n 9261100)
  • Color Comparator Box (p/n 173200)
  • 18 mm Plastic Viewing Tubes, with caps (p/n 4660004)

Procedure for pH determination with 147008

Before starting analysis:

  • Install the color disc on the center pin in the color comparator box (numbers to the front).
  • Use sunlight or lamp as the source of light to identify the color match with the color comparator box. 
  • Use the buffer solution as the sample to verify the test accuracy.
  • If the sample contains more than 15 mg/l of chlorine, the test results will be affected. Add 1 drop of 0.1 N sodium thiosulfate solution to 25 mL of sample and mix to remove the interferene. Use this dechlorinated sample in the test procedure.

Test procedure

Fill two tubes to the 5 mL line with sample. Place the first tube into the left opening of the color comparator box. Pipet 4 drops of phenol red pH indicator solution to the second tube and swirl to mix. Install the second tube into the color comparator box. Keep the color comparator box in front of a light source, rotate the color disc to determine the matching color and analyze testing results in pH units.
