147009 pH Test Kit, 7.4 - 9.6 pH, Model 17J

pH Test Kit measures pH in the range of 7.4 - 9.6 pH using the Color Disc/Thymol blue method. Model 17J may be used for evaluation of 200 samples. The smallest increment is 0.1 pH. pH Test Set provides low-cost color disc method for simple and reliable pH determination.

pH Test Set includes:

• Thymol Blue pH Indicator Solution (p/n 25732)
• Thymol Blue pH Color Disc, 7.4–9.6 pH (p/n 9263500)
• Color Comparator Box (p/n 173200)
• 18 mm Plastic Viewing Tubes, with caps (p/n 4660004)

Procedure for pH evaluation

Before you start take into account the following:

• It is required to rinse tubes with sample before the analysis.
• It is recommended to rinse tubes with deionized water after the analysis. 
• If the chlorine consentration exeeds 1 mg/L, it will interfere with the test. In order to remove this interference simply pipet 1 drop of 0.1 N sodium thiosulfate solution to 25 mL of sample and mix. Use this dechlorinated
  sample in the test procedure. Keep in mind that sodium thiosulfate removes a maximum of 10 mg/L chlorine.

Testing procedure

Firstly, add the collected sample into two tubes to the first line. Secondly, install the first tube into the left opening of the color comparator box. Thirdly, pipet 6 drops of thymol blue pH indicator solution to the second tube and swirl the content of the second tube. Finally, insert the second tube into the color comparator box, rotate the color disc to match the color and analyze the testing results in pH units in the scale window.
