1225 Trypticasein Soy Broth w/o Dextrose, Condalab

1225 Condalab

Trypticasein Soy Broth without Dextrose (TSB w/o Dextrose) is a nutritious liquid medium used for the cultivation of a wide variety of microorganisms. By excluding the fermentable carbohydrate glucose (dextrose), this medium is particularly useful for studying fermentation reactions, performing carbohydrate differentiation tests, and for the growth of organisms where the presence of acid from sugar metabolism would be detrimental to viability.

Add to bag

This medium maintains the high-quality nitrogenous base of traditional Tryptic Soy Broth but removes the sugar component. The Tryptone (pancreatic digest of casein) and Soy Peptone provide essential amino acids, peptides, and vitamins. Sodium Chloride ensures osmotic stability, and Dipotassium Phosphate provides a strong buffering capacity to maintain a stable pH. The absence of Dextrose prevents the formation of acidic by-products that can occur during the fermentation of glucose, making it an ideal basal medium for research into microbial metabolism or for use in biochemical identification tests when specific sugars are added by the researcher.

Advantages

  • Basal Medium for Metabolism Studies: Allows for the addition of specific carbohydrates to evaluate individual fermentation patterns without interference from glucose.
  • pH Stability: Ideal for the cultivation of pH-sensitive microorganisms that might be inhibited by the acid produced during standard glucose fermentation.
  • Versatile Industrial Use: Used in specialized fermentation processes and vaccine production where a controlled carbohydrate environment is necessary.
  • High Nutritional Yield: Despite the lack of sugar, the dual-peptone system provides enough nitrogen and growth factors for many fastidious species.
  • Sterility and Quality Control: Manufactured under strict quality standards to ensure consistency in experimental and industrial results.
