Brucella Broth provides an exceptionally rich environment for bacterial growth. It contains Casein Peptone and Meat Peptone, which supply high levels of nitrogen, amino acids, and peptides. Yeast Extract serves as a potent source of B-complex vitamins and growth factors, while Glucose provides the essential energy for metabolic activity. The inclusion of Sodium Bisulfite acts as a reducing agent to lower the redox potential, further encouraging the growth of oxygen-sensitive organisms. Sodium Chloride maintains the osmotic balance of the medium. Due to its enrichment properties, it is frequently used as a base for blood culture systems and for the preparation of inoculum in susceptibility testing for fastidious organisms.
Advantages
- Excellent Enrichment: Supports the rapid proliferation of Brucella and other difficult-to-grow microorganisms.
- Versatile Nutrient Base: Can be supplemented with Horse Serum or antibiotics to create highly selective enrichment environments.
- Anaerobic Support: When supplemented with Hemin and Vitamin K1, it is ideal for the growth of clinically significant anaerobes.
- High Clarity: The clear liquid allows for the easy detection of turbidity, indicating even low levels of bacterial growth.
- Diagnostic Reliability: Manufactured to strict standards to ensure the recovery of fastidious bacteria from complex biological samples.
