MQuant® Nitrate test strips (1.10020) are designed for easy and reliable detection of nitrate ions. The test is based on a modified Griess reaction: nitrate ions are reduced to nitrite ions by a reducing agent on the strip. In the presence of an acidic buffer, these nitrite ions react with an aromatic amine and a coupling reagent to form a red-violet azo dye. The intensity of the color change is proportional to the nitrate concentration, allowing for semi-quantitative determination by comparison with a color scale.6 Each strip also features a second "alert zone" that changes color in the presence of nitrite ions, helping to identify potential interferences.
Advantages
- Quick Results: Provides a semi-quantitative reading in just 1 minute.
- Versatile Applications: Suitable for drinking water, wastewater, aquarium water, and food analysis (e.g., potatoes).
- Dual Reaction Zone: Includes an integrated nitrite alert zone to ensure measurement accuracy.
- Digital Compatibility: Can be used with the MQuant® StripScan app for digital data readout and storage.
- Portable: Ideal for on-site testing in the field or laboratory without the need for complex equipment.
