The Amicon® Ultra-0.5 filter (UFC5003) is optimized for ultrafiltration of dilute biological samples containing proteins, antigens, antibodies, enzymes, or nucleic acids. It is particularly effective for concentrating samples from 500 µL down to as little as 15 µL in just 10 to 30 minutes. The vertical membrane design reduces concentration polarization and fouling, ensuring high speed and high sample recovery (typically >90%). These units are also used for desalting, buffer exchange, and removing macromolecular labels or primers from reaction mixes. A unique feature is the reverse spin capability, which allows for consistent and nearly complete recovery of the concentrated retentate.
