OXYTRANS TR, Optical Inline O₂ Sensor, Centec

OXYTRANS TR Centec

The OXYTRANS TR is an optical inline oxygen sensor from Centec for continuous measurement of dissolved O₂ in liquids and O₂ in gas phases, based on luminescence quenching technology. Unlike conventional electrochemical sensors, it requires no electrolyte solution and does not consume oxygen during measurement — delivering high long-term stability with minimal maintenance. Available in two measurement ranges for both liquid and gas phase applications, with automatic Pt100 temperature compensation, full CIP compatibility, and integration capability into Centec deaeration and water treatment systems including OXYSTEAM, DeGaS-Cold, DeGaS-Hot, and DGS.

Add to bag

The OXYTRANS TR is an optical inline O₂ sensor from Centec for continuous measurement of dissolved oxygen in liquids and oxygen in gas phases, using the luminescence quenching principle. An LED light source illuminates a thin indicator layer through an optical window; the layer emits red light that is detected inside the sensor. When oxygen molecules are present, they absorb excitation energy from the indicator layer, reducing the emitted light signal in proportion to O₂ concentration. Because only oxygen absorbs this energy, other gases present in the medium have no influence on the measurement result. Unlike electrochemical sensors, OXYTRANS TR requires no electrolyte replacement and does not consume oxygen during measurement — making it significantly lower-maintenance and more stable over extended operating periods. Two range variants are available for both liquid and gas phase measurements, covering ultra-low ppb-level dissolved oxygen in deaerated water through to high-percentage gas phase O₂. OXYTRANS TR can be deployed as a standalone inline sensor or integrated into Centec process systems including OXYSTEAM, DeGaS-Cold, DeGaS-Hot, and DGS.

Key Features OXYTRANS TR

  • Optical luminescence quenching principle — no electrolyte, no O₂ consumption; high long-term measurement stability.
  • Dual application: dissolved O₂ in liquids (deaerated water, wort, beer, CO₂) and O₂ in gas phase — two range variants per phase.
  • Liquid phase: variant I 1 ppb–2 ppm (±1 ppb); variant II 30 ppb–35 ppm (±30 ppb).
  • Gas phase: variant I 0–4.2% O₂ (±0.002%); variant II 0–50% O₂ (±0.03%).
  • Response time t₉₀ ≤10 s — fast inline process feedback.
  • Other gases present in the medium do not affect the measurement result.
  • Automatic temperature compensation via integrated Pt100 sensor.
  • Aseptic design; fully CIP-compatible; wetted materials 1.4404 / AISI 316L, silicone FDA, PTFE FDA.
  • Varivent inline connection; other connections on request. IP65; 24 V DC.
  • Outputs: 2 × 4–20 mA analogue; 2 × digital 24 V DC; Profibus DP optional.
  • Optional high-temperature version: operating temperature up to +98 °C.

Applications

The OXYTRANS TR is suited to inline O₂ monitoring in deaerated water (water treatment systems), wort and beer production (dissolved O₂ control for flavour stability and shelf life), CO₂ purity monitoring, and boiler steam/gas phase O₂ measurement as part of the OXYSTEAM deaeration control system. It is also used in deaeration systems including DeGaS-Cold, DeGaS-Hot, and DGS.

Installation and Safety Notes
