Required for low range iron determination in water samples.
Iron Test Kit is used to perform low range iron analysis in water. The kit is suitable for iron determination in the following ranges: 0 - 0.2 mg/L Fe and 0 - 1.0 mg/L Fe. Iron Test Set uses Colour Disc/FerroZine method. The set can be used for 100 tests. The smallest increments are 0.002 and 0.01 mg/L Fe. Model IR-24 contains all reagents and apparatus for analysis in the field.
Iron Test Kit includes:
- FerroZine Reagent Solution Pillows (p/n 230166)
- Clippers (p/n 96800)
- FerroZine Color Disc, 0-0.2 mg/L (p/n 9264400)
- FerroZine Color Disc, 0-1.0 mg/L (p/n 9266300)
- Color Comparator Box (p/n 173200)
- Long-path Adapter (p/n 2412200)
- 18 mm Glass Viewing Tubes (p/n 173006)
- Stoppers for 18-mm Glass Tubes and AccuVac Ampuls (p/n 173106)
- Vial with 2, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25-mL marks (p/n 219300)
Procedure for Fe evaluation
Before you start take into account the following:
- It is required to clean all labware with 6.0 N (1:1) hydrochloric acid solution and rinse with deionized water.
- It is recommended to use the clippers to open the reagent solution pillow.
- It is necessary to use the standard solution as the sample to control the test accuracy.
Testing procedure
In order to perform iron determination in the range from 0 to 0.2 mg/L Fe, put the long-path adapter in the color comparator box. Pour the sample into the tube to the top line. Install the tube into the left opening of the color comparator box. Add the sample into the vial to the 25 mL mark. Pour the content of FerroZine Iron Reagent Solution Pillow and swirl to mix. Wait 5 minutes till the purple color appears as the result of the reaction. Perform determination of testing results within 30 minutes. Fill the second tube to the top line with the pretreated sample. Insert the second tube into the color comparator box. Set the color comparator box below the light, rotate the color disc to match the color and read testing results in mg/L in the scale window.
See manual for additional information regarding iron determination in the range of 0-1 mg/L Fe and for samples that contain magnetite or ferrites.
