Required for evaluation of molybdenum in water samples.
Molybdate Test Set measures molybdenum in the range of 0 - 3.0 mg/L Mo in water samples by Color Disc/ Ternary complex method. Model MO-LR may be used for analysis of 100 samples. The smallest increment is 0.25 mg/L Mo. Obtain quick and reliable testing results with the low-cost test kit.
Molybdate Test Set contains:
- Molybdenum 1 Reagent Powder Pillows (p/n 2359299)
- Molybdenum 2 Reagent Solution (p/n 2352523)
- Color Comparator Box (p/n 173200)
- Low Range Molybdate Molybdenum Color Disc, 0-3 mg/L (p/n 9262200)
- 18 mm Glass Viewing Tubes (p/n 173006)
- Stoppers for 18-mm Glass Tubes and AccuVac Ampuls (p/n 173106)
Procedure for Mo determination
Before starting analysis:
- Clean tubes and bottles with 6.0 N (1:1) hydrochloric acid solution and rinse with deionized water.
- Adjust the sample pH using 1 N sulfuric acid or 1 N sodium hydroxide before analysis.
- Filter the collected sample if it contains turbidity.
Testing procedure
Fill two tubes to the first line with sample. Place the first tube into the left opening of the color comparator box. Add the content of Molybdenum 1 Reagent Powder Pillow to the second tube, install the stopper and shake to mix. Pipet 8 drops of Molybdenum 2 Reagent Solution and swirl the content of the second tube. Wait 2 minutes till the green color develops as the result of the reaction. Insert the second tube into the color comparator box, rotate the color disc to match the color and analyze testing results in mg/L Mo6+.
- To record the test result as mg/L molybdate (MoO42–), multiply the test result by 1.67.
- To record the test result as mg/L sodium molybdate (Na2MoO4), multiply the test result by 2.15.
