2350800 Manganese Color Disc Test Kit, Model MN-PAN

Manganese Color Disc Test Kit measures manganese in the range from 0 to 0.70 mg/L Mn in water. Color Disc/PAN method is used to perform manganese determination.  Model MN-PAN may be used for evaluation of 50 samples. The smallest increment is 0.05 mg/L Mn. Manganese Color Disc Test Set is required for manganese monitoring in the beverage, paper and textile industries, dye production and food processing.

Procedure for Mn measurement

Before starting analysis:

• It is required to clean all labware with 1:1 nitric acid solution and rinse fully with deionized water.
• It is recommended to digest the sample with heat and acid to determine total manganese.
• If the sample is very acidic or alkaline, adjust the sample pH to 4–5 with sodium hydroxide or sulfuric acid solution. Keep the pH below 5 to prevent the precipitation of manganese.
• Check the instructions for possible interfering substances and their levels.

Testing procedure

1. Add deionized water or pretreated sample into the first bottle to the 25‑mL mark.
2. Fill the second bottle to the 25‑mL mark with sample.
3. Pour the content of Ascorbic Acid Reagent Powder Pillow to each bottle and swirl to mix.
4. Pipet 1 mL of Alkaline-Cyanide Reagent and stir the content of each bottle.
5. Add 1 mL of PAN Indicator Solution to each bottle and swirl to mix., an orange colour will develop. 
6. After 2 minutes (or 10 minutes if the iron concentration in the sample is more than 5 mg/L), fill the first tube to the 5 mL line with water from the first bottle and put into the left opening of the color comparator box.
7. Fill the second tube to the first line with the prepared sample. Insert the second tube into the color comparator box.
8. Set the color comparator box in front of the light, rotate the color disc to match the color and read the testing results in mg/L in the scale window.
