For iron analysis in water samples by Color Disc/TPTZ method.
Model IR-21 is required for iron measurement in water samples. Iron Color Disc Test Set measures iron in the following ranges: 0 - 0.2 mg/L Fe and 0 - 2.0 mg/L Fe. The set uses Color Disc/TPTZ method. Iron Color Disc Test Kit may be used for 100 samples. The smallest increments: 0.01 and 0.05 mg/L Fe.
Iron Color Disc Test Kit contains:
- TPTZ Iron Reagent Powder Pillows (p/n 2275699)
- TPTZ Iron Color disc, 0–0.2 mg/L (p/n 9265400)
- TPTZ Iron Color disc, 0–2.0 mg/L (p/n 9264300)
- Color Comparator Box (p/n 173200)
- Long-path Adapter (p/n 2412200)
- 18 mm Glass Viewing Tubes (p/n 173006)
- Stoppers for 18-mm Glass Tubes and AccuVac Ampuls (p/n 173106)
- Graduated Vial, 2, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 mL (p/n 219300)
Procedure for Fe evaluation
Before starting analysis:
- It is required to use the color disc that applies to the test procedure range.
- It is recommended to clean all labware with 6.0 N (1:1) hydrochloric acid solution and rinse with deionized water.
- It is necessary to consider that copper, cobalt, chromium and mercury in the sample can cause interference showing high testing results.
Testing procedure
In order to perform iron measurement in the range from 0 to 0.2 mg/L Fe, put the long-path adapter in the color comparator box. Fill the first tube to the top line with sample and install into the left opening of the color comparator box. Add 25 mL of sample into the vial, pour the content of TPTZ Iron Reagent Powder Pillow and instantly swirl to mix. After 3 minutes, the blue color develops. Fill the second tube to the top line with the pretreated sample. Insert the second tube into the color comparator box, rotate the color disc to determine the color match and analyze the testing results in mg/L in the scale window.
