Calcium and Total Hardness Reagent Set measures calcium and total hardness in water, wastewater and seawater.
Calcium and Total Hardness Reagent Set measures calcium and total hardness in the range between 10 to 160 mg/L CaCO₃ and 100 to 4000 mg/L CaCO₃ in water, wastewater and seawater. Article 2272100 uses EDTA Titration method (8329). The product can be used to conduct 100 tests.
Calcium and Total Hardness Reagent Set includes:
- Hardness 1 Buffer Solution (p/n 42432)
- CalVer 2 Calcium Indicator Powder Pillows (p/n 94799)
- ManVer 2 Hardness Indicator Powder Pillows (p/n 85199)
- Potassium Hydroxide Standard Solution (p/n 28232H)
- EDTA Titration Cartridge, 0.0800 M (p/n 1436401)
- EDTA Titration Cartridge, 0.800 M (p/n 1439901)
- Sulfuric Acid Standard Solution (p/n 244932)
The first titration gives the calcium hardness results and the second titration gives the total hardness. The difference between the values represents the magnesium hardness level. All results for concentration are given in mg/l as CaCO₃.
Procedure for Calcium and Total Hardness evaluation
Select sample volume and attach the appropriate cartridge to the Digital Titrator from the table in the working procedure description. Turn the delivery knob to eject air and a few drops of titrant. Reset the counter to zero and clean the tip of the Digital Titrator. Mix the collected sample and CalVer 2 Calcium Indicator Powder Pillow in the 250mL Erlenmeyer flask. Add titrant until the color changes from red to pure blue and calculate the concentration. Pipet 1 mL of 5.25 Sulfuric Acid Standard Solution until the color changes from pure blue to purple, and then to red. Add 2 mL of Hardness 1 Buffer Solution and swirl the content of the 250mL Erlenmeyer flask. Add the content of ManVer 2 Hardness Indicator Powder Pillow and swirl to mix. Continue to add titrant until the color changes from red to pure blue and calculate the concentration.
