222800 Chromium Color Disc Test Kit, Model CH-12

222800 Hach

For hexavalent and total chromium analysis in water samples from cooling towers and engine cooling systems.

Add to bag

Model CH-12 is required for determination of hexavalent and total chromium in the range of 0 - 1.3 mg/L Cr⁶+ in water samples from cooling towers and engine cooling systems by Color Disc/ Diphenylcarbazide, Hypobromite oxidation method. Test Kit may be used to analyze 50 samples. The smallest increment is 0.1 mg/L Cr⁶+.

Chromium Test Set includes:

Procedure for Cr⁶+ determination

Before you start take into account the following:

  • Subtract the testing results of a separate hexavalent chromium test from the testing results of the total chromium test to calculate trivalent chromium.
  • Multiply the testing results by 2.23 to record value as mg/L CrO₄²-.
  • Multiply the testing results by 3.12 to record the value as mg/L Na₂CrO₄.

Testing procedure

For determination of hexavalent chromium in the range of 0 - 1.3 mg/L Cr⁶+, add 5 mL of sample into two tubes. Install the first tube into the left opening of the color comparator box. Pour the content of  ChromaVer 3 Chromium Reagent Powder Pillow into the second tube, set the stopper on the tube and shake the second tube. The purple color develops as the result of the reaction. After 5 minutes, insert the second tube into the color comparator box. Rotate the color disc to match the color. Read the testing results in mg/L in the scale window.

See manual for additional information regarding total chromium evaluation in the range of 0 - 1.3 mg/L Cr⁶+.
