For nitrate-nitrogen analysis in water samples by Color Disc/ Cadmium reduction method.
Nitrogen/Nitrate Color Disc Test Set measures nitrate-nitrogen in the range of 0 - 1 mg/L NO₃⁻-N and 0 - 10 mg/L NO₃⁻-N in water samples. Color Disc/ Cadmium reduction method is used to evaluate nitrate-nitrogen concentration. Model NI-14 may be used for 50 samples. The smallest increments are 0.02 and 0.2 mg/L NO₃⁻-N.
NI-14 Test Set includes:
- NitraVer© 6 Nitrate Reagent Powder Pillows (p/n 1412099)
- NitriVer® 3 Nitrite Reagent Powder Pillows (p/n 1407899)
- Nitrate Nitrogen Color Disc, indoor light, 0-1 mg/L and 0-10 mg/L (p/n 9264600)
- Nitrate Nitrogen Color Disc, outdoor light, 0-1 mg/L and 0-10 mg/L (p/n 9267900)
- Color Comparator Box (p/n 173200)
- 18 mm Plastic Viewing Tubes, with caps (p/n 4660004)
- Plastic Dropper (p/n 608000)
Procedure for NO₃⁻-N evaluation
Before you start take into account the following:
- The required sample temperature is between 20 and 25 °C (69 - 77 °F).
- This test set is not applicable to samples with high chloride concentration.
- Multiply the testing results by 4.4 to record the value as mg/L NO₃⁻.
Testing procedure
- For nitrate-nitrogen analysis in the range of 0 - 1 mg/L NO₃⁻-N, add 5 mL of sample into the first tube, install the cap and shake. Empty the content of the tube.
- Repeat the first step.
- Fill the first tube to the 5 mL line with sample and pour the content of NitraVer 6 Nitrate Reagent Powder Pillow. Close the tube and shake for 3 minutes.
- After 30 seconds, transfer the solution to the second tube and add NitriVer 3 Nitrite Reagent Powder Pillow. Place the cap on the tube and shake for 30 seconds.
- Wait 10 minutes. Evaluate the testing results within 20 minutes.
- Insert the second tube into the right opening of the color comparator box.
- Rinse the first tube and add 5 mL of sample.
- While keeping the color comparator box in front of the light, rotate the disk to identify the color.
- Analyze the testing results in mg/L in the scale window.
