Tryptone Medium (93657) is a specialized formulation rich in the amino acid tryptophan. It is used primarily in the indole test as part of the IMViC series for the biochemical differentiation of enteric bacteria. Bacteria that possess the enzyme tryptophanase degrade tryptophan into indole, which can then be detected using Kovac’s or Ehrlich’s reagent. This NutriSelect® Plus variant is manufactured with high-quality enzymatic digests of casein to ensure consistent performance, high clarity, and reliable results in diagnostic microbiology.
Advantages
- High Tryptophan Content: Optimized specifically for robust and clear indole production tests.
- NutriSelect® Plus Quality: Ensures superior batch-to-batch reproducibility and clear broth appearance.
- Standardized Identification: Follows established protocols for the identification of coliforms and Vibrio species.
- Excellent Solubility: Prepared broth is clear, making it easy to observe the color reaction after adding detection reagents.
- Reliable Results: Low carbohydrate content prevents interference with the indole reaction.
