Lactose TTC Agar with Tergitol™ 7 (1.07680) is formulated in accordance with ISO 9308-1 (1988) and AFNOR NF 90-414 standards. It is particularly effective for the recovery of injured coliform organisms from chlorinated water. The medium uses Tergitol-7 (sodium heptadecyl sulfate) as a selective agent to inhibit most Gram-positive bacteria and suppress the swarming of Proteus species. Differentiation is based on the fermentation of lactose (indicated by Bromothymol blue) and the reduction of TTC. Lactose-positive bacteria produce acid, turning the medium yellow under the membrane, while the reduction of TTC helps identify specific coliform characteristics.
Advantages
- Enhanced Recovery: Superior recovery of stressed or injured coliforms compared to M-Endo media.
- High Selectivity: Tergitol-7 effectively inhibits Gram-positive background flora and swarming bacteria.
- GranuCult® Format: The granulated form ensures high flowability, reduces dust inhalation, and speeds up dissolution.
- Regulatory Compliance: Meets the requirements of ISO 9308-1 and various international water quality standards.
- Clear Differentiation: Distinct color reactions (yellow-orange for E. coli and coliforms, red for lactose-negative bacteria) allow for easy colony counting.
