Optimal Application and Use

For accurate readings, insert the sensor vertically into the soil or substrate, ensuring the entire length of the rods is in full contact with the medium. For permanent burial at depth, use an auger (like the SM-AUG-100) to create a pilot hole and optional extension tubes for placement and retrieval. Connect the sensor to an SDI-12 compatible data logger (e.g., Delta-T GP2) using the appropriate cable. Configure the SDI-12 address and ensure the logger provides a 6-20 VDC power supply on the data bus. The sensor will remain in a low-power idle state (<0.5 mA) until woken by a measurement command from the logger.
