Precision Wind Measurement for Demanding Applications

The Ultraschall Anemometer 2D Compact represents the pinnacle of modern wind measurement technology. Utilizing an advanced ultrasonic principle, it captures inertia-free data with exceptional accuracy, making it the instrument of choice for professionals who cannot compromise on data reliability.

Versatile Data for Comprehensive Analysis

This sensor provides a complete wind data profile. It measures orthogonal wind velocity vectors (X and Y components), calculates both scalar and vectorial wind velocity, determines wind direction, and delivers acoustic-virtual temperature readings. This comprehensive dataset is critical for precise environmental monitoring and system control.

Engineered for Reliability in Extreme Conditions

Designed to perform consistently in challenging environments, the anemometer features a robust, hard-anodized aluminum housing with an IP68 protection rating. To combat icing—a common cause of measurement failure—the instrument is equipped with an automatic heating system for the bottom plate, cover plate, and ultrasonic transducers, ensuring continuous operation at critical ambient temperatures.

Key Advantages

  • Superior Accuracy: Achieves ±0.2 m/s RMS at 5 m/s and ±2% RMS from 5 to 60 m/s for wind speed, and ±2° for wind direction at speeds above 1 m/s.
  • Dual Output Flexibility: Output data digitally via RS485/422 interface using ASCII THIES format or MODBUS RTU protocol, or choose standard analog signals (e.g., 4...20 mA, 0...10 V).
  • Robust Construction: IP68-rated housing ensures protection against dust and long-term immersion in water, guaranteeing longevity.
  • Anti-Icing Heating: Integrated heating system minimizes downtime and measurement errors caused by frost and ice accumulation.

Application Measures

This instrument is especially suitable for use in:

  • Renewable energy and wind power plants for resource assessment and turbine control.
  • Industrial automation and wind warning systems for building and crane safety.
  • Traffic engineering, aviation, and navigation for environmental monitoring.
  • Meteorology and climatology for scientific research and weather station data collection.

For setup, connect via the 8-pole connector and mount on a standard mast tube (Ø 50 mm). Ensure correct north alignment using an accessory northring for directional accuracy.
