LCK438: New Range for Total Nitrogen Determination
Hach recently introduced the new LCK438 cuvette test, which measures total nitrogen (bounded) in the ultra-high measuring range of 100-250 mg/L TNb using a simple and highly reliable method. The reagent kit is designed for the analysis of water and wastewater samples with pH values from 3 to 12 and temperatures from 15 to 25 °C.
The product uses Korolev's (peroxodisulfate) digestion and photometric determination by the 2,6-dimethylphenol method (EN ISO 11905-1). One package of LCK438 can be used for 25 tests.
The reagent set is compatible with the range of Hach spectrophotometers including DR1900, DR3900 and DR6000. LCK438 Cuvette tests provide accurate measurement values and precise dosing of the reagents. The closed system and small amount of reagents ensure maximum user safety.
Hach LCK438 method description
With this new reagent set your workflow is optimized with no dilution required: inorganically and organically bonded nitrogen is oxidized to nitrate by digestion with peroxo-disulphate. The nitrate ions react with 2.6-dimethylphenol in a solution of sulphuric and phosphoric acid to form a nitrophenol. The measurement wavelength is 546 nm. Slight pink color may develop during the reaction which will not interfere with the analysis. In addition, slight turbidity present in the sample does not interfere either.
