This sampler utilizes a convenient "dip-and-incubate" format, eliminating the need for traditional agar plate preparation or cumbersome filtration hardware. It consists of a polyethylene paddle with a 0.45 µm gridded mixed cellulose ester (MCE) filter and a plastic chamber containing dehydrated m-Green medium. When the paddle is dipped into a liquid sample, the filter precisely captures 1 mL of the sample, while the medium is simultaneously rehydrated to provide the necessary nutrients for fungal growth. Bromocresol green in the medium serves as an indicator, facilitating the visualization of colonies against the yellow background of the paddle.

Instructions for use

To test a liquid sample, remove the paddle from the chamber and immerse it in the sample for approximately 30 seconds (ensure the membrane is uniformly wetted). Alternatively, for surface monitoring, the membrane can be pressed directly against a flat surface. After sampling, shake off any excess liquid and re-insert the paddle firmly into the chamber. Incubate the unit at 28–32 °C for 24–72 hours. Yeast colonies typically appear satiny, opaque, and white (turning green over time), while mold colonies appear filamentous and may be white, green, or brown/black.
