LCK Reagent Set measures ammonium in wastewater, drinking water, raw water, surface water, soils, substrates and nutrient solutions. .
LCK339 Cuvette test measures 0.23 - 13.5 mg/L NO₃-N and 1.0 - 60.0 mg/L NO₃ in wastewater, drinking water and other liquids and soils. The product uses 2.6-dimethylphenol method (DIN 38405 D9-2). 25 water and soil samples may be evaluated with one package. 13mm LCK339 reagent set can be measured on DR3900, DR6000, DR1900, DR2800, DR3800, and DR5000.
Before you start take into account the following:
- Nitrite concentrations can be removed by addition of amidosulphonic acid.
- Chloride may be precipitated out as silver chloride by adding silver sulphate.
- High calcium concentrations can be removed by adding EDTA.
- The required water sample pH is 3-10 pH.
- The recommended temperature of the water sample and reagents must be between 20 °C and 24 °C (68-75 °F).
Procedure for NO₃-N determination
Mix 1.0 mL of sample and 0.2 mL of solution A in the cuvette. Invert the closed cuvette a few times until no more streaks are visible. After 15 minutes thoroughly clean the outside of the cuvette and evaluate the results.
Summary of method
Nitrate ions in solutions containing sulphuric and phosphoric acids react with 2.6-dimethylphenol and form 4-nitro-2.6-dimethylphenol.
Sample preparation
For short-term conservation of the water or soil sample (up to 24 hours) the suggested temperature is between +2 °C and +5 °C. pH of the collected sample must be reduced with sulphuric acid to pH<2. The longer-term conservation is not recommended. The sample must be transported or stored in glass or polyethylene vessel (PE). The product storage conditions are between 15 °C and 25 °C.
