LCW532 Manganese Cuvette Test, 0.005-0.5 mg/L Mn

LCW532 Hach

LCW Reagent Set measures manganese in drinking water, mineral water, raw water and process analysis.

Add to bag

Article LCW532 (13mm) measures 0.005-0.5 mg/L Mn in drinking water, mineral water and other liquids. The product uses 1-(2-pyridylazo)-2-naphthol (PAN) method. LCW532 reagent set may be used to analyze 50 water samples. The evaluation of the testing results may be conducted using Hach spectrophotometers DR3900 and DR6000.

Before you start take into account the following:

  • It is recommended to use LCW532 reagent kit together with 50mm rectangle-cuvette LZP341.
  • Insert the sealed cuvette with the valve to the right side of DR2800, DR3800 and DR3900.

Procedure for Mn measurement

Prepare the blank by filling rectangular cuvette (50 mm) with sample. Prepare the blank by adding 1 level spoonful reagent A into a beaker. Pipet 10.0 mL sample and stir. Add 1.0 mL solution B and stir again. Drip 1.0 mL solution C and mix the beaker content. After 2 minutes insert and remove the blank from the instrument. Pour the prepared sample into a second 50mm rectangle-cuvette and evaluate testing results in the spectrophotometer.

Summary of method

Manganese ions are reduced to Manganese (II) ions using ascorbic acid. Manganese (II) ions enter into reaction in weak alkaline solutions with 1-(2-pyridylazo)-2-naphthol (PAN) and form orange-red complex that must be photometrically evaluated.

Sample preparation

For long-term storage of the sample containing manganese, it is required to decrease the drinking water, mineral water or other liquid sample pH with nitric acid to pH<2. The sample should be transported and kept in the glass, polyethylene or borosilicate glass vessel. Article LCW532 storage conditions are between 15 °C and 25 °C.
