LCK Reagent Set measures biological oxygen demand in surface water, low-load outflows of municipal or industrial sewage treatment plants.
LCK Cuvette test measures BOD5 in the range of 0.5-12.0 mg/L O₂ in surface water and other liquids. The product uses dilution method (EN 1899-1). Article LCK554 may be used for 20 tests. 13mm LCK product is required to be evaluated on spectrophotometers DR3900, DR6000, DR1900, DR2800, DR3800 and DR5000.
Before starting analysis:
- Samples that contain algae must be filtered before the analysis.
- The surface water sample and dilution water temperature should be between 18 °C and 24 °C.
- The analyzed water sample pH should be 4-10 pH.
- The measuring range for not diluted samples is between 0.5 and 6.0 mg/L BOD₅.
- The measuring range for diluted samples is from 1.0 to 12.0 mg/L BOD₅.
Summary of method
Determination of biological oxygen demand with inhibition of nitrification by 5 mg/L allylthiourea takes 5 days. As a result of the reaction the red color is evaluated.
Sample preparation
For short-term conservation for up to 24 hours the recommended temperature of the water sample must be +2 °C to +5 °C. The longer-term sample conservation for up to 14 days is required to be stored at the temperature of -18 °C. LCK554 Cuvette test storage conditions are between 2 °C and 8 °C. The reagent set should be kept refrigerated.
