LCK Reagent Set measures nitrate in wastewater, drinking water, raw water, surface water, soils, substrates and nutrient solution.
LCK Cuvette test measures 15-150 mg/L NO₃-N and 66-664 mg/L NO₃ in wastewater, drinking water and other liquids and soils. LCK554 reagent kit uses 2.6-dimethylphenol (according to standards ISO 7890-1-2-1986, DIN 38405 D9-2). The product may be used to perform 25 tests. 13mm LCK product must be evaluated on spectrophotometers DR3900, DR6000 and DR1900.
Before evaluation of the sample ensure that not more than 3 hours elapsed between sampling of the water or soil and analysis. Pipet 0.1 mL of sample and add 1.0 mL of solution A. Close and invert the cuvette until streaks are no longer visible. After 15 minutes clean the outside of the cuvette and analyze test results using Hach spectrophotometer. Nitrate ions in solutions containing sulphuric and phosphoric acids react with 2.6-dimethylphenol and form 4-nitro-2.6-dimethylphenol. The recommended pH of the water or soil sample must be from 3 to 10 pH. The recommended temperature of the water sample and reagents is required to be between 20°C and 24 °C (68-75 °F).
For short-term conservation of the nitrate containing water or soil the pH of the sample is required be reduced to pH<2 using sulphuric acid and stored for up to 24 hours. The longer-term conservation of the sample is not recommended. Sampling vessel must be made of glass or polyethylene vessel (PE). LCK540 Cuvette test storage conditions are 15 - 25 °C.
