LCK521 Iron Trace Cuvette Test, 0.01-1.0 mg/L Fe

LCK521 Hach

LCK Reagent Set measures iron in drinking water, raw water, swimming-pool water, wastewater and process analysis.

Add to bag

LCK521 Cuvette test measures 0.01-1.0 mg/L Fe and 0.012-1.200 mg/L Fe in drinking water, raw water, swimming-pool water and other liquids. The product uses 1.10-phenanthroline method (ISO 6332-1988, DIN 38406 E1-1). The product can be used for 20 tests. 50 mm LCK521 reagent set may be tested using Hach spectrophotometers DR3900, DR6000, DR2800, DR3800 and DR5000.

Before starting analysis:

  • Use LCW902 CRACK SET Reagent kit for iron digestion.
  • Use 50 mm cuvettes LZP341 or LZM381 for sample-specific blanks.
  • Remove air bubbles by shaking or tapping the cuvette.
  • Higher content of copper, nickel, and tin can cause high-bias results.

Procedure for Fe measurement

Pipet 5.0 mL sample and insert the cuvette into the cell holder of the instrument. Then remove the cuvette from the spectrophotometer and close the cuvette with DosiCap A. Stir the cuvette several times and after 10 minutes invert the content of the cuvette a few more times. Thoroughly clean the cuvette outside and insert the cuvette into the cell holder again.

Summary of method

Iron (II) ions are forming orange-red color complex with 1.10-phenanthroline. Any iron (III) ions in the water sample are reduced to iron (II) ions by ascorbic acid before the complex formation.

Sample preparation

For 1 month storage of the sample containing iron, it is necessary to lower the pH to <2 with nitric acid. Sampling vessel must be made of glass, polyethylene or borosilicate glass. LCK521 Cuvette test storage conditions are between 15 °C and 25 °C.
