LCK Cuvette test measures 60-735 mg/L C, TC 75-750 mg/L C and TIC 15-150 mg/L C in wastewater, surface water and soils. Article LCK381 uses difference method, persulphate digestion (DIN 38409-H3). The product may be used to perform 25 tests. LCK381 reagent kit can be evaluated using DR3900, DR6000, DR1900, DR2800, DR3800 and DR5000 spectrophotometers. LCW912 Powder Dispenser is required to conduct the analysis.

Transfer 1x digestion reagent A into the TC cuvette and drip 0.2 mL sample. Pipet 1.0 mL of the water or soil sample into the TIC cuvette. Invert TC and TIC cuvettes after closing the caps. Screw 2 blue indicator cuvettes on the TC and TIC cuvettes and heat both cuvette combinations in the preheated thermoreactor for 2 hours at 100 °C (212 °F). Cool down TC and TIC cuvettes and insert both cuvette combinations in the Hach spectrophotometer to perform the analysis. Total carbon (TC) and total inorganic carbon (TIC) are converted to carbon dioxide (CO2) that passes from the digestion cuvette through membrane into the indicator cuvette. Finally the color change of the indicator is photometrically evaluated.

In order to conservate the water sample and use it for the analysis within 1 week, it is required to keep the sample at the temperature between +2 °C and +5 °C and reduce the pH with sulphuric acid to pH<2. For 1 month of sample storage the temperature is required to be around -18°C and pH<2. Article LCK381 storage conditions are between 15 °C and 25 °C.
