LCK Reagent Set measures total organic carbon in wastewater, surface water and soils.
Article LCK380 measures 2-65 mg/L C, TC 12-75 mg/L C and TIC 10-73 mg/L C in wastewater, surface water and soils. The product uses difference method, persulphate digestion (DIN 38409-H3). LCK Cuvette test may be used for 25 tests. LCK380 Reagent Set can be evaluated on DR3900, DR6000, DR1900, DR2800, DR3800 and DR5000. LCW912 Powder Dispenser is required to conduct sample analysis.
In order to measure total organic carbon (TOC), add 2.0 mL of the water or soil sample in the total carbon (TC) and total inorganic carbon (TIC) cuvette, close the TC and TIC cuvette and invert a few times and heat both cuvette combinations simultaneously in the preheated thermostat at 100 °C (212 °F) for 2 hours. Finally insert the TC and TIC cuvette in the cell holder and evaluate test results. TC and TIC are converted to carbon dioxide (CO2) by oxidation and acidification respectively. CO2 passes from the digestion cuvette through a membrane and into the indicator cuvette. The color change of the indicator must be photometrically evaluated. TOC is determined as the difference between values of the TC and TIC. Use only carbon-free double-distilled water for sample dilution.
The short-term conservation temperature of the sample must be between +2 °C and +5 °C and can be stored for up to 1 week. Sample pH must be reduced with sulphuric acid to pH<2. The longer-term conservation temperature of the water or soil sample should be -18 °C and may be stored for up to 1 month. The water or soil sample pH should be pH<2. The recommended storage temperature of LCK380 Cuvette test is 15 °C - 25 °C.
