LCK Reagent Set measures nitrate in wastewater, drinking water, raw water, surface water, soils, substrates and nutrient solutions.
LCK340 Cuvette test measures 5-35 mg/L NO₃-N and 22-155 mg/L NO3 in wastewater, drinking water and other liquids and soils. The product uses 2.6-dimethylphenol method (DIN 38405 D9-2). Article LCK340 may be used for performing of 25 tests. 13mm LCK reagent kit can be evaluated using following Hach instruments: DR3900, DR6000, DR1900, DR2800, DR3800 and DR5000.
Mix 0.2 mL of sample and 1.0 mL of solution A using pipette. Afterwards close the cuvette and invert it several times until no more streaks can be seen. After 15 minutes insert the cuvette into the cell holder and evaluate the testing results. Nitrate ions in solutions containing sulphuric and phosphoric acids react with 2.6-dimethylphenol in order to form 4-nitro-2.6-dimethylphenol. High concentration of oxidizable organic substances (COD) cause the reagent to change color and indicate high-bias results (maximum 500 mg/L COD). Interferences caused by high nitrite, chloride and calcium concentrations may be removed by adding amidosulphonic acid, silver sulphate and EDTA, respectively. Dispose solutions according to local, state and federal regulations.
For 24 hour conservation of the water sample the recommended temperature must be from +2 °C to +5 °C and the required pH should be reduced with sulphuric acid to <2. The longer-term conservation is not recommended. Sampling vessel must be made of glass or polyethylene (PE). LCK340 Cuvette test storage conditions are between 15 °C and 25 °C.
