LCK Reagent Set measures alcohol in spirits, beers, alcohol-free beers and fruit juices.
LCK300 Cuvette test measures 0.01-0.12 g/L C₂H₅OH in spirits, beers, alcohol-free beers and fruit juices. The product uses alcohol oxidase (enzymatic) method. The product may be used for 24 sample evaluations. 13mm LCK300 reagent set is compatible with the following DR series spectrophotometers: DR3900, DR6000, DR1900, DR2800, DR3800 and DR5000.
Before starting analysis:
- It is recommended to filter turbid samples and highly acidic fruit juices using membrane filtration set LCW904.
- It is required to degas samples containing CO₂.
Procedure for C₂H₅OH analysis
Sample preparation: Add 20 mL of distilled alcohol-free water to 50 mL volumetric flask, before pipetting the collected sample (see manual for detailed information regarding dilution of spirits, beers and fruit juices). After that pipet 0.2 mL diluted sample in the cuvette, close and invert the cuvette content a few times. After 30 minutes, insert the zero-cuvette in the instrument, select the program and remove the zero-cuvette from the cell holder. Insert the sample-cuvette and evaluate testing results.
Summary of method
The enzyme alcohol oxidase catalyses the reaction. The resulting hydrogen-peroxide combines with aminophenazone and benzoic acid derivative in the presence of peroxidase forming red quinoid color.
