LCK Reagent Set measures chemical oxygen demand in salt water, chloride-containing waste water, sea water and surface water.
13mm LCK1914 reagent set measures COD in the range of 70-1000 mg/L O₂ in salt water, chloride-containing waste water, sea water and surface water. The product uses dichromate method (ISO 6060-1989, DIN 38409-H41-H44). Article LCK1914 can be used for 25 tests. LCK Cuvette test can be evaluated using DR3900, DR6000 and DR1900.
Shake the cuvette and add 1.8 mL of the wastewater, sea water or other liquid sample. Shake the cuvette again and heat in the classic or high temperature thermostat (see manual for detailed information regarding thermoreactor temperatures). After that remove and invert the cuvette twice. It is recommended to perform the analysis after approximately 60 minutes to allow the sediment to completely settle before evaluation. If the sediment has still not settled, it is recommended to centrifuge the cuvette at 4000 rotations per minute. Finally test the water sample using Hach spectrophotometer. Oxidizable substances react with sulphuric acid and potassium dichromate solution in the presence of silver sulphate as the reaction catalyst. Chloride is masked by mercury sulphate. The green color of Cr3+ is measured.
For conservation of the water sample for 24 hour period the required temperature is between +2 °C and +5 °C. For longer-term conservation of up to 14 days the temperature should be -18 °C. The water sample should be carried in glass or polyethylene container. LCK1914 storage conditions are between 15 °C and 25 °C (protected from light).
