LCK Reagent Set measures total nitrogen in water and wastewater.
LCK138 Cuvette test (13mm) measures 1-16 mg/L TNb in water and wastewater. The product uses Koroleff digestion and photometric detection with 2.6-dimethylphenol method (EN ISO 11905-1). Article LCK138 can be used for 25 tests. LCK reagent kit can be evaluated on DR3900, DR6000, DR1900, DR2800, DR3800 and DR5000.
Mix 1.3 mL sample, 1.3 mL solution A and 1 tablet B in the dry reaction tube, close the reaction tube and heat for 2 hours in the classic thermoreactor at 120 °C (248 °F) or for 15 minutes in the high temperature thermostat. Invert the cooled reaction tube a few times. Pipet 0.5 mL of the reaction tube content and 0.2 mL of solution D into the Cuvette Test. After that close and invert the cuvette several times until no more streaks are visible. After 15 minutes insert the cuvette in Hach spectrophotometer. Inorganically and organically bonded nitrogen is oxidized to nitrate by digestion with peroxo-disulphate. The nitrate ions react with 2.6-dimethylphenol in a solution of sulphuric and phosphoric acid to form a nitrophenol. Large amounts of reducing agents in water and wastewater sample may cause low-bias results.
In order to conservate the water or wastewater sample for up to 1 week, pH of the sample must be 3-7 pH. For longer-term conservation of the sample containing total nitrogen, the water sample is required to be stored at the temperature of -18 °C. The recommended sampling vessel material is glass, polyethylene or borosilicate glass. LCK138 reagent set should be stored at the temperature 15 °C and 25 °C.
