LCI Reagent Set measures chemical oxygen demand in water, wastewater and process analysis.
LCI Cuvette test (13mm) measures COD in the range of 0-150 mg/L O₂ in water, wastewater and process analysis. The product uses dichromate method (ISO 15705). Article LCI500 can be used for 24 tests. LCI reagent set can be evaluated on DR3900, DR6000, DR1900, DR2800, DR3800 and DR5000.
Cuvette with water sample and reagent must be heated on the preheated thermoreactor at 148 °C (298.4 °F) for 2 hours. Subsequently let the cuvette to cool to room temperature, insert and remove the blank from the spectrophotometer. Finally insert water sample cuvette in the cell holder. Oxidizable substances react with sulphuric acid and potassium dichromate solution in the presence of silver sulphate that acts as the catalyst of the aforementioned reaction. Chloride is masked by mercury sulphate. The reduction in the yellow color of Cr6+ is analyzed. The method may be used for water samples (or diluted water samples) with chloride concentrations (maximum 1000 mg/L). The water sample for the reagent blank solution and dilutions should be stored at the temperature from 15 to 25 °C (59-77 °F) and satisfy the requirements of ISO 3696: 1987, Quality 3.
For short-term conservation of the water sample (up to 24 hours) the recommended temperature must be between +2 °C and +5 °C. For long-term conservation (up to 14 days) the temperature should be -18 °C. Article LCI500 must be protected from light and stored at the temperature from 15 °C to 25 °C.
