Reagent Powder Pillows is required for monochloramine evaluation for chloraminated drinking water and chlorinated wastewater.
Article 2802246 measures low range monochloramine 0.04-4.50 mg/L Cl₂ for chloraminated drinking water and chlorinated wastewater. Monochlor F Reagent Powder Pillows is also included in the Monochloramine Cuvette Test (p/n 2805145) that measures high range monochloramine 0.1-10.0 mg/L Cl₂ for chloraminated drinking water and chlorinated wastewater. The product uses Indophenol method (10171). 50 Powder Pillows are sealed in each package.
Before starting analysis:
- It is recommended to collect the sample in clean glass containers.
- It is required to analyze the sample instantly after collection.
- It is necessary to install the instrument cap on DR800 and DR900 series instrument before analysis.
Procedure for Cl₂ evaluation
Run program 132 to conduct analysis of the collected sample using DR800 series instrument. Start program 66, Monochloramine LR for other instruments. Add 10mL of sample in the cell, insert in the instrument and press ZERO. Pour the content of Monochlor F Powder Pillow, install the stopper and shake the sample cell. After 5 minutes, insert the pretreated sample into the cell holder and select READ. The measurement wavelength for spectrophotometers is 655 nm. The recommended wavelength for colorimeters is 610 nm.
Summary of method
In the presence of cyanoferrate catalyst, monochloramine in the sample enters into reaction with substituted phenol and forms intermediate monoimine compound. The intermediate couples with excess substituted phenol forming green-colored indophenol. The color is proportional to the amount of monochloramine in the sample.
Sample preparation
Store the product container tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Protect the product from moisture. Keep the product away from other materials.
