Required for ferrous iron evaluation in water and other liquids.
Ferrous Iron Color Disc Test Kit is required for ferrous iron determination in water and other liquids. The kit measures ferrous iron in the range of 0-7 mg/L Fe²+. Model IR-18C uses Color Disc/1,10 Phenanthroline method. Ferrous Iron Color Disc Test Set can be used for 100 tests. The smallest increment is 0.2 Fe²+. The set contains all reagents and apparatus for analysis in the field.
Ferrous Iron Color Disc Test Set includes:
- Ferrous Iron Reagent Powder Pillows (p/n 103769)
- Iron Color Disc, indoor light, 0–7 mg/L (p/n 9261000)
- Iron Color Disc, outdoor light, 0–7 mg/L (p/n 9263700)
- Color Comparator Box (p/n 173200)
- 18 mm Plastic Viewing Tubes, with caps (p/n 4660004)
- Vial with 2, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25-mL marks (p/n 219300)
Procedure for Fe²+ evaluation
Before starting analysis:
- Analyze the sample instantly after collection.
- Use the indoor light color disc if the light source is the fluorescent light.
- Use the outdoor light color disc if the light source is the sunlight.
- Use the standard solution as the sample to check the test accuracy.
Testing procedure
Fill the tube to the 5 mL line with the sample. Install the tube into the left opening of the color comparator box. Add the sample into the vial to the 25 mL mark. Pour the content of Ferrous Iron Reagent Powder Pillow to the vial and swirl to mix. If ferrous iron is present in the sample, the content of the tube will change color to orange. After 3 minutes, fill the second tube to the 5 mL line with the pretreated sample. Insert the second tube into the color comparator box. Place the color comparator box in front of the source of light. Turn the color disc to find the matching color and read testing results in mg/L in the scale window.
