2604100 Molybdenum Reagent Set, 0.2-40.0 mg/L Mo

2604100 Hach

Molybdenum Reagent Set measures molybdenum in water, wastewater, boiler and cooling water.

Add to bag

Molybdenum Reagent Set measures molybdenum in the range of 0.2-40.0 mg/L Mo in water, wastewater, boiler and cooling water. Article 2604100 uses Mercaptoacetic Acid method (8036). Each product package contains 100 Powder Pillows. Article 2604100 is compatible with all Hach spectrophotometers except DR2000, DR3000 and PC II. The product can be used for 10 mL sample analysis.

Molybdenum Reagent Set includes:

Before starting analysis:

  • Collect the sample using glass or plastic containers pretreated with 6 N (1:1) hydrochloric acid and rinsed with deionized water.
  • It is recommended to filter the sample turbidity with filter paper and funnel.
  • It is required to evaluate the reagent blank value for each reagent lot.

Procedure for Mo measurement

Start program 320 Molybdenum HR to evaluate molybdenum 0.2-40.0 mg/L Mo. Swirl 10 mL of water, wastewater or other liquid sample and the content of MolyVer 1 Reagent Powder Pillow in the cell. Pour MolyVer 2 Reagent Powder Pillow and stir the content of the cell. Add MolyVer 3 Reagent Powder Pillow and swirl the cell content. Start the instrument timer for 5 minutes and prepare the blank (see manual for detailed blank preparation procedure). After 5 minutes, insert the blank cell in the instrument and press ZERO. Install the pretreated sample in the spectrophotometer and select READ.

Summary of method

MolyVer 1 and MolyVer 2 are added to buffer and condition the sample. MolyVer 3 provides the mercaptoacetic acid that enters into reaction with molybdate molybdenum forming yellow color proportional to the molybdenum concentration.

Sample preparation

It is recommended to adjust the sample pH using concentrated nitric acid to pH<2 to conserve the sample. It is required to store the sample at the temperature or below 6 °C (43 °F) for up to 28 days.
