Aluminum Reagent Set measures aluminum in water and other liquids.
Article 2603700 measures aluminum in the range of 0.002-0.250 mg/L Al in water and other liquids. The product uses Eriochrome Cyanine R method (8326). Aluminum Reagent Set can be used to conduct analysis of 100 tests. The product may be evaluated with DR1900, DR3900 and DR6000. Article 2603700 can be used for 10 ml sample analysis.
Aluminum Reagent Set includes:
- ECR Reagent Powder Pillows (p/n 2603849)
- Hexamethylenetetramine Buffer Reagent Powder Pillows (p/n 2603999)
- ECR Masking Reagent Solution (p/n 2380123)
Before you start take into account the following:
- It is required to clean all labware with 6.0 N (1:1) hydrochloric acid and rinse with deionized water to remove contaminants.
- It is necessary to adjust the pH to 2.9-4.9 with 12 N potassium hydroxide solution and/or 1 N potassium hydroxide solution before analysis.
Procedure for Al evaluation
Run program 9 Aluminum ECR. Mix 20 ml of sample and ECR Reagent Powder Pillow in the mixing cylinder. After 30 seconds, add the content of the Hexamethylenetetramine Buffer Reagent Powder Pillow, install the stopper on the mixing cylinder and invert it several times. Transfer 10 mL of the pretreated sample from the mixing cylinder into the sample cell. Add 1 drop of ECR Masking Reagent Solution into the clean square sample cell. Transfer 10 mL of the solution from the mixing cylinder into the blank cell. Insert the blank cell in one of the aforementioned instruments and select ZERO. Remove the blank cell, insert the pretreated sample cell into the cell holder and press READ.
Summary of method
Eriochrome Cyanine R enters into reaction with aluminum showing orange-red color. The intensity of color is proportional to the aluminum concentration. The required measurement wavelength to perform photometric assessment of the color change is 535 nm.
Sample preparation
It is recommended to adjust the sample pH to less than 2 with concentrated nitric acid to conserve the collected sample. It is required to store the sample at room temperature for up to 6 months.
