Accuvac Reagent Set measures dissolved oxygen in water, wastewater and aquaculture.
Accuvac Reagent Set measures dissolved oxygen in the range of 0.3-15.0 mg/L O₂ and 1.0-40.0 mg/L O₂ in water, wastewater and aquaculture. The product uses HRDO (8166) and Ultra High Range method (8333). Article 2515025 may be used for 25 tests and can be evaluated with all Hach spectrophotometers. The product provides fast and reliable testing results for dissolved oxygen measurement with minimal effort. Accuvac ampules contain the exact amount of reagent for a single test and may be used as a measurement cuvette.
Before you start take into account the following:
- It is recommended to consider sample collection and handling techniques to ensure correct testing results.
- Measure the water, wastewater or aquaculture sample immediately after collection.
Procedure for O₂ evaluation
Start program 445 Oxygen (Dis HR AV) to evaluate dissolved oxygen in the range of 0.3-15.0 mg/L O₂ or 448 Oxygen (Dis UHR) for 1.0-40.0 mg/L O₂. Prepare the blank by filling the sample cell and blue Ampul cap with collected sample. Prepare the sample by filling the AccuVac Ampul with water, wastewater or other liquid sample. After that close and stir the AccuVac Ampul. After 2 minutes, shake the AccuVac Ampul for 30 seconds. Clean the outside of the blank sample cell, insert in the instrument and select ZERO. Clean the AccuVac Ampul and evaluate using Hach spectrophotometer at 535nm or colorimeter at 520nm. See manual for detailed information regarding dissolved oxygen evaluation using colorimeter.
Summary of method
The vacuum-sealed reagent from the AccuVac Ampul reacts with dissolved oxygen, turning the yellow solution purple. The purple color is proportional to the concentration of dissolved oxygen in the water sample.
