Accuvac Reagent Set measures iron in water, wastewater and seawater.
Accuvac Reagent Set measures 0.02-3.00 mg/L Fe in water, wastewater and seawater. The product uses FerroVer method (8008). Each package of the product may be used to evaluate up to 25 samples. Article 2507025 is compatible with DR900, DR1900, DR3900, DR6000 and PC II. Each Accuvac Ampule has the exact amount of reagent for a single test and may be used as a measurement cuvette.
Before you start take into account the following:
- It is recommended to digest the sample with heat and acid to evaluate all forms of iron.
- It is required to treat the blank with one 0.1-g scoop of RoVer Rust Remover to remove turbidity.
Procedure for Fe measurement
Start program 267 Iron (FerroVer AV). Prepare the blank by adding 10mL of collected sample to the sample cell. Prepare the sample by mixing the AccuVac Ampul with water or other liquid sample. Invert the AccuVac Ampul a few times and start the instrument timer for 3 minutes. After that insert the sample cell with the blank in the spectrophotometer and select ZERO. Put the AccuVac Ampul in one of the abovementioned instruments and push READ. See manual for additional information regarding sample analysis with FerroVer Iron Reagent Powder Pillow. The required measurement wavelength is 510 nm (for spectrophotometers) or 520 nm (for colorimeters).
Summary of method
FerroVer Iron Reagent converts soluble and insoluble iron to soluble ferrous iron. The ferrous iron enters into reaction with the 1-10 phenanthroline indicator in the reagent forming an orange coloration that should be evaluated photometrically.
Sample preparation
Adjust the pH<2 of the sample using concentrated nitric acid to preserve for later analysis. It is recommended to store the preserved sample at room temperature for up to 6 months. The recommended storage temperature of the product is from 10 °C to 25 °C.
