Accuvac Reagent Set measures copper in water, wastewater and seawater.
Article 2516025 measures 0.04-5.00 mg/L Cu in water, wastewater and seawater. The product uses Bicinchoninate method (8026). Accuvac Reagent Set may be used to perform evaluation of 25 samples and can be evaluated on all Hach spectrophotometers except DR820 and DR850. The product provides fast and error-free results for copper determination with minimal effort.
Before you start take into account the following:
- It is recommended to digest the sample using heat and acid, to conduct analysis of all forms of the metal.
- It is required to measure the reagent blank value for each reagent lot.
Procedure for Cu determination
Start program 140 Copper (Bicin. AV). Prepare the blank by pouring 10mL of sample to the sample cell. Prepare the sample by collecting 40mL of water, wastewater or other liquid sample in 50‑mL beaker and filling the AccuVac Ampul. Stir the content of AccuVac Ampul and start the instrument timer. After 2 minutes, insert the blank in the instrument and push ZERO. Remove the blank and evaluate the sample AccuVac Ampul. The required measurement wavelength is 560nm. See manual for additional information regarding sample analysis using colorimeter.
Summary of method
Copper enters into reaction with salt of bicinchoninic acid contained in CuVer 1 or CuVer 2 Copper Reagent forming purple complex in proportion to the concentration of copper.
Sample preparation
Adjust the sample pH<2 using concentrated nitric acid to preserve the collected sample. It is recommended to store the sample at room temperature for a maximum of 6 months.
