Cyanide Reagent Set measures cyanide in water, wastewater and seawater.
Cyanide Reagent Set measures cyanide 0.002-0.240 mg/L CN⁻ in water, wastewater and seawater. Article 2430200 uses Pyridine-Pyrazalone method (8027). The product can be used to evaluate 100 samples. Cyanide Reagent Set is compatible with the following DR series spectrophotometers: DR900, DR1900, DR3900 and DR6000. Article 2430200 can be used for 10 mL sample analysis.
Cyanide Reagent Set includes:
- CyaniVer 3 Cyanide Reagent Powder Pillows (p/n 2106869)
- CyaniVer 4 Cyanide Reagent Powder Pillows (p/n 2106969)
- CyaniVer 5 Cyanide Reagent Powder Pillows (p/n 2107069)
Before you start take into account the following:
- It is recommended to treat the sample with acid distillation to conduct cyanide determination.
- It is required to use water bath to keep the reaction temperature at 25 °C for accurate testing results.
- Reaction times must be strictly adhered to.
- Measure the reagent blank value for each reagent lot.
Procedure for CN⁻ measurement
Start program 160 Cyanide to conduct analysis of the sample. Mix 10 mL of sample and CyaniVer 3 Cyanide Reagent Powder Pillow in the cell. Pour the content of CyaniVer 4 Cyanide Reagent Powder Pillow, close and stir the cell for 10 seconds. Instantly add CyaniVer 5 Cyanide Reagent Powder Pillow and shake the cell content. After 30 minutes, prepare the blank cell (see manual). Thoroughly clean the outside of the blank, install the blank cell in the instrument and press ZERO. Remove the blank, insert the pretreated sample cell and select READ.
Summary of method
Pyridine-Pyrazalone method gives intense blue color with free cyanide. It is required to distill the sample to determine cyanide that is complexed with transition and heavy metals.
Sample preparation
Adjust the pH of the sample to minimum pH 12 with 5.0 N sodium hydroxide standard solution to conserve the sample that contains cyanide. Store the pretreated sample below 6°C (43 °F) for up to 14 days.
