Ammonia Nitrogen Test Set is required for fast and reliable determination of ammonia nitrogen in freshwater and seawater samples.
Ammonia Nitrogen Test Kit measures ammonia nitrogen in the range of 0 - 2.4 mg/L NH₃-N in freshwater and seawater. Color Disc/Salicylate method is used to perform ammonia nitrogen analysis. Model NI-SA may be used for analysis of 100 samples. The smallest increment is 0.1 NH₃-N. Get fast and reliable testing results with the low-cost test set.
Ammonia Nitrogen Set includes:
- Ammonia Salicylate Reagent Powder Pillows (p/n 2395266)
- Ammonia Cyanurate Reagent Powder Pillows (p/n 2395466)
- Ammonia Nitrogen Color Disc, Salicylate, 0–2.0 mg/L (p/n 9261300)
- Color Comparator Box (p/n 173200)
- 18 mm Glass Viewing Tubes (p/n 173006)
- Stoppers for 18-mm Glass Tubes and AccuVac Ampuls (p/n 173106)
Procedure for NH₃-N measurement
Before you start take into account the following:
- It is required to use the standard solution as the sample to control the test accuracy.
- It is recommended to rinse tubes with fresh sample before the second analysis.
- This test kit is designed for seawater. When used for brackish or freshwater samples, the test kit gives a higher value than the actual. The error in brackish water is typically less than 10%. The error in low-salinity or fresh water is no more than 16%.
- It is necessary to dilute the sample to increase the range to 4 mg/L NH₃-N.
Testing procedure
Add 5mL of the sample into both tubes. Place the first tube in the left opening of the color comparator box. Add the content of Ammonia Salicylate Reagent Powder Pillow to the second tube. Install the stopper on the tube and shake the second tube until the powder is completely dissolved. After 3 minutes, add Ammonia Cyanurate Reagent Powder Pillow to the same tube, set the stopper and mix until the powder is completely dissolved. Wait 15 minutes till the green color occurs as the result of the reaction. Insert the second tube into the color comparator box, set the color comparator box in front of the light and rotate the color disc to find the matching color.
See manual for additional information regarding calculation of the mg/L NH₃ and mg/L NH₄+.
