2349500 Oxygen Scavenger Test Kit Color Disc, Model OS-1

2349500 Hach

Required for analysis of oxygen scavengers in water samples from boilers and cooling towers.

Add to bag

Oxygen Scavenger Test Set measures the concentration of oxygen scavengers in water samples from boilers and cooling towers. The set is required to determine several oxygen scavengers, including diethylhydroxylamine (DEHA), erythorbic acid (Isoascorbic acid), hydroquinone and methylethylketoxime. Oxygen Scavenger Test Kit conducts analysis of oxygen scavengers in the following ranges: 0 - 52 µg/L DEHA (LR), 0 - 300 µg/L DEHA (MR) and 0 - 1360 µg/L DEHA (HR). The kit uses Color Disc/ Iron reduction method. Model OS-1 can be used for 50 tests.

Oxygen Scavenger Test Set contains:

Procedure for DEHA determination

Before starting analysis:

  • It is required to use fluorescent light to find the color match with the color comparator.
  • It is recommended to rinse tubes, optical viewing inserts and bottles after each measurement to remove contamination.
  • It is necessary to use the middle value of the two segments if the color match is between two segments.

Sample preparation

  1. Rinse the first mixing bottle with sample. Add 25 mL sample into the bottle. Mark the bottle with the letter "S".
  2. Rinse the second mixing bottle with demineralized water that does not contain oxygen scavengers or ferrous iron. Add 25 mL sample into the bottle. Mark the bottle with the letter "B".
  3. Add the content of DEHA 1 Reagent Powder Pillow into each bottle and swirl to mix.
  4. Pipet 0.5 mL of DEHA 2 Reagent to each bottle and stir the content of each bottle for 5 seconds.

Testing procedure

  1. For determination of low-range oxygen scavengers (0 - 52 µg/L DEHA), insert the long path viewing adapter and the color disc.
  2. Rinse and fill the first tube to the top line with solution "B".
  3. Install the tube in the left opening of the color comparator box.
  4. Rinse and fill the second tube to the top line with the pretreated sample "S".
  5. Place the second tube in the right opening of the color comparator box.
  6. 10 minutes after DEHA 2 addition, set the comparator below the light. Rotate the color disc to determine the color match.
  7. Multiply the value in the scale window by the applicable factor (see manual).

Read the instructions regarding mid-range and high-range analysis of oxygen scavengers.
