2296600 Silver Reagent Set, 0.02-0.70 mg/L Ag

2296600 Hach

Silver Reagent Set measures silver in water and wastewater.

Add to bag

Silver Reagent Set measures silver 0.02-0.70 mg/L Ag in water and wastewater. Article 2296600 uses Colorimetric method (8120). One product package can be used to perform analysis of 50 samples. Silver Reagent Set may be evaluated using all Hach spectrophotometers except DR800 and PC II. Article 2296600 can be used for 50 mL sample analysis.

Silver Reagent Set includes:

Before starting analysis:

  • It is required to consider that the sample pH must be 9-10 to receive accurate testing results.
  • Digest the sample with heat and acid if the collected sample contains interference.
  • Evaluate the reagent blank value for each reagent lot.

Procedure for Ag evaluation

Start program 660 Silver. Swirl Silver 1 Reagent Powder Pillow and Silver 2 Reagent Solution Pillow in the dry 50mL mixing cylinder. Add 50mL of water or wastewater sample in the mixing cylinder, install the stopper and invert the mixing cylinder for 1 minute. Add 10mL of solution from the mixing cylinder in the sample cell to prepare the sample. Prepare the blank (see manual for detailed information regarding blank preparation). Pour the content of Sodium Thiosulfate Reagent Powder Pillow to the remaining solution in the mixing cylinder, put the stopper and invert the mixing cylinder content several times. Add 10mL of the solution from the mixing cylinder into another sample cell. After 2 minutes, insert the blank in the instrument and select ZERO. Remove the blank cell, install the pretreated sample cell and press ZERO. The required measurement wavelength is 560nm.

Summary of method

Silver ions enter into reaction with cadion 2B forming green to brown to red-purple-colored complex. The sodium thiosulfate acts as decolorizing agent for the blank. The Silver 1 and Silver 2 reagents contain the buffer, indicator and masking agents.
