2288000 Chloride Reagent Set, 10-200000 mg/L Cl⁻

Article 2288000 measures chloride 10-200000 mg/L Cl⁻ in water, wastewater, seawater, oil and gas field waters. The product uses Silver Nitrate Titration method (8207, 8225, 10246). Chloride Reagent Set can be used to perform analysis of 100 samples.

Chloride Reagent Set includes:

• Chloride 2 Indicator Powder Pillows (p/n 105766)
• Silver Nitrate Titration Cartridge, 0.2256 N (p/n 1439601)
• Silver Nitrate Titration Cartridge, 1.128 N (p/n 1439701)

Before starting analysis:

• It is required to collect the sample in clean glass or plastic containers.
• It is recommended to use TitraStir Titration Stand to hold the Digital Titrator and stir the sample.

Procedure for Cl⁻ determination

Insert delivery tube into the digital titration cartridge and attach the cartridge to the Digital Titrator. Turn the delivery knob to eject air and a few drops of titrant. After that reset the counter to zero and clean the Digital Titrator. Fill 250mL Erlenmeyer flask with the sample, add Chloride 2 Indicator Powder Pillow and swirl the Erlenmeyer flask content. Add titrant until the color changes from yellow to red-brown and calculate the concentration (see manual for additional information regarding sample volumes and digit multipliers).

Summary of method

Silver ions enter into reaction with chloride forming silver chloride precipitate. After all of the chloride is in the form of silver chloride, the silver ions react with chromate and form silver chromate precipitate. The silver chromate precipitate has orange or red-brown color that shows the endpoint of the titration.
